Our Wishes...Their Dreams was founded in 2009 after a little girl named Emma Stumpf was diagnosed with brain cancer. While Emma struggled with the medical treatments, her family struggled financially. Emma’s close friends and family pulled together to offer as much assistance as possible. Over a dozen volunteers pulled together for Emma. While working together they wanted to help other sick children and created Our Wishes…Their Dreams.

Our Wishes…Their Dreams has proven to be a resource within the community by offering financial assistance to those families. In addition to easing the financial burdens, our volunteers assist to ease the daily stresses that go hand in hand with parenting a sick child. As Our Wishes…Their Dreams continues to grow, we will commit and remain dedicated to our mission – helping children who have a life-threatening disease by offering their families financial and community support.

"As a founder of Our Wishes...Their Dreams, I want to express my interest and dedication to this charity. I’ve been directly impacted by a loss to cancer. In the spring of 2008, my sister was diagnosed with Leukemia. While she was diagnosed as an adult, I watched her struggle and fight the cancer for a year. She lost her battle in the spring of 2009. During the year she was struggling with cancer, I spent countless hours in the hospital by her bedside. A week after my sister’s death, a dear friend from my childhood contacted me to inform me of Emma’s brain cancer. I was dumb-founded at the amount of people, so close to me, that were infected with cancer…even more so that it happened to a child. I became immersed with the planning and creation of Our Wishes...Their Dreams.

While, we can’t cure a sick child, I hope we can ease as many burdens as possible by offering financial support and assistance. As the owner of a financial advising company, I’ve met with numerous clients that have suffered tremendous financial downfalls because of an un-expected medical illnesses. I hope that Our Wishes...Their Dreams will eliminate the amount of financial burden that can come from parenting a child with a life-threatening disease."

"I am a 31 year old mother of one boy, age 9 1/2. I just recently got married in May 2008. I am currently enrolled in Ivy Tech's nursing program. I start my clinicals in September of this year. I enjoy cooking, boating, golfing, shopping and spending time with friends and family.

When Jodi approached me about helping raise money for Emma, my response was, "No doubt!". As a mother myself, and having lost my own mother to cancer, I felt more than compelled to help in any way that I could. In doing so, it has given me a great sense of good will and faith. I am very hopeful that this year will be successful and we will have many more years to come."

"After talking to a long time friend and hearing the devastating news that her 7 year old daughter had a brain tumor and no health insurance I was beside myself. Our daughters have become good friends and knew how easily that could be my child; I wanted to do something but felt hopeless in what to do. After brainstorming I contacted some very close friends told them my plans and they were all in immediately. This is how Our Wishes...Their Dreams came about. I wanted to help raise money for Emma to lessen the burden on the family of how to pay her medical bills. I also wanted to help the family out with any support we could offer them from the community to individuals willing to donate their time.

I have lost several family members to cancer most recently my father in law. Now having to watch my aunt face stage 4 pancreatic cancer and to watch Emma in her fight against a non surgical brain tumor is heart wrenching. It is an awful thing to watch and I feel hopeless that there is nothing I can do but pray. Now is my turn to make a change and to fulfill the life of a child, one child at a time. I feel that God has helped me in this decision and will lead the way in our crusade.

I am a stay at home mom with a 7 year old daughter and a 3 year old son. Married to a wonderful husband for 9 years. I am a photographer specializing in Children, Family, Senior and Wedding Photography. I hope to use my experience in photography to help promote community events for Emma’s cause and to our future children."

"There are many reasons I have joined in the efforts of Our Wishes...Their Dreams. I have been in the restaurant business as a server and bartender for over 10 years. It has been a fitting career for me because I am a very caring, sincere person. I have had many loyal regular customers who ask for me, because they know I will take care of them. I have formed friendships with them because not only did I just do my job, I also listened to what they had to say. I made the time to get to know them, and vice versa. When I first heard of Emma’s diagnosis, I was HEARTBROKEN. Here is a 7 year old girl with a full lifetime ahead of her. I have known and have been friends with her mom since high school. Jodi and I knew that we had to do something to help.

This Organization is close to my heart because my father was diagnosed with Stage 4 liver cancer in 2007. I’ve seen what cancer does to a person. It’s hard to accept the fact that a loved one has been diagnosed with a life-threatening disease. The initial diagnosis is the hardest part to accept. But once you get past that, you have to fight the disease with faith, positive thoughts, prayer, and strength. The thought of Emma and her family having to go through this compelled me to be one of the founding members of Our Wishes...Their Dreams."
